Here is where it all began. After more than thirteen years with our family, Randy left us for the next big adventure that eventually awaits us all. His cremains (cremated remains) were presented to us in a porcelin urn with a loose fitting lid held in place with a piece of masking tape.

This definitely, was not good enough for all he had given to us, so I got to thinking of a more appropriate memorial for our dear friend. So I found out how to engrave stone and etched Randy's name into his stone which now rests in a quiet corner of my den here beside me.

Randy was a great dog and our wonderful companion. Randy's Rock is pictured here, on the train tracks, close to our home. This was a favourite place for our early morning walks together. Randy had this unusual behaviour that I've never seen, or heard of before, in dogs. He would drag this boulder around the back yard with his front paws, lie down and begin licking and drooling his tongue all over the filthy stone until it was cleaned and then start the whole process over again.

That stone sat around the yard for a long time after Randy died and every time I saw it I could feel that Randy was not too far away.
